Development tool used in Fez and Bastion coming to Ninty’s home console
Nintendo has is taken MonoGame on-board to make the development framework available to Wii U game creators, Siliconera reports.
Designed as an open source implantation of the Microsoft XNA 4 Framework, MonoGame has been used to create a number of acclaimed indie titles, such as Fez, Bastion and Skulls of the Shogun.
Much like Unity, MonoGame’s goal is to allow XNA developers to port their games to the iOS, Android, Mac, Linux and Windows 8.
Support for PlayStation Mobile and Raspberry Pi is currently in the works.
The Japanese giant previously added Unity to Wii U’s roster of cross-platform development frameworks in an effort to attractive more independent developers to the machine and expand its library of software.
