Cuts to follow missed targets for Tomb Raider publisher
Square Enix has confirmed that it is making "organizational changes" that will affect personel at its UK office.
The job cuts, confirmed by Develop sister-site MCV, follow catastrophic losses at the publisher in the wake of sales falling short of its astonishingly high expectations for Tomb Raider, Sleeping Dogs, and Hitman: Absolution.
“We are reviewing our business in Europe to ensure we have the right structure, content and skills for the changing entertainment landscape," Square Enix said in a statement.
"We do expect changes to the UK office, which will affect personnel."
Square Enix promised details "when the time is right."
Europe is responsible for two-thirds of the publisher's sales, and the company has put much of the blame for the missed targets on a US sales force it has described as "ineffective."
