Project Shaker pitch 'wasn't strong enough', says pair
Project Shaker has come to an early ending as the pair of industry icons behind the game decided to pull the plug.
Brenda Brathwaite and Tom Hall of Loot Drop have been in the game industry for years, and like many of their colleagues, saw Kickstarter as a chance to fund their own RPG.
But despite still having more than two weeks to run, they spotted their pitch wasn't getting the response they had hoped, and decided to go back to the drawing board.
"In the industry, games are pitched every day. Some make it to the next stage, but many don't," read the announcement.
"We regret to announce that we're adding Shaker: An Old-School RPG to the latter list."
This is a rare move, but it shows that Kickstarter isn't a perfect solution, and that developers have to excercise maturity and discretion in how they handle projects funded by fans.

"Ultimately, our pitch just wasn't strong enough to get the traction we felt it needed to thrive," explained Brathwaite and Hall.
"Sure, it may have made it. We could have fought our way to a possibly successful end. In reading your feedback and talking it over internally, however, we decided that it made more sense to kill it and come back with something stronger."
"In game design, mercy killing is the law.
Another game may be in the works, and the dynamic developer duo extended their thanks to the fans, colleagues, and press that helped them reach the $250,000 mark.
"Please accept our thanks and apologies in equal order," read a statement.
"Expect something more soon."
