Studio uses free Unreal toolset to create Dungeon Defense in four weeks

Trendy bets on UDK

Florida-based Trendy Entertainment has used UDK to develop a title in just four weeks.

The team has documented the creation of Dungeon Defense, an action-RPG take on the tower defense genre, on the UDK website, and released the source code to the game to serve as a learning resource for others looking to adopt the technology.

Epic also recently released the January 2010 UDK Beta, adding improvements to decal lighting and shadowmaps, animation-driven trail emitters, and further ‘de-nativising’ UTGame to put C++ functionality back into UnrealScript.
