Tizen App Challenge win for Zombies Indie House’s Meanwhile, In A Parallel Universe

Zombies Indie House has snapped up an honourable mention award at the Tizen App Challenge for its game, ‘Meanwhile, In A Parallel Universe’, and a handsome $40,000 cheque to go with it.

Over $4 million in cash prizes were up for grabs in the Tizen App Challenge across nine game and non-game categories. The winners were announced at the ongoing Mobile World Congress in Spain.

The Indian indie studio was one of three honourable mentions in the ‘role-playing and strategy games’ category. The grand prize went to Kidalang for ‘Sage Fusion 2’, with ‘Buns Invasion – Heroes of Epic Saga! HD’ and ‘Tiny Miner’ winning runner-up awards.

Aside from ‘Meanwhile, In A Parallel Universe’, honourable mention awards also went out to ‘Bug Bites & Defense’ and ‘RPG Symphony of the Origin’.

Zombies Indie House is headed by Diptoman Mukherjee, whose solo project, Chaos Theory, had won the Student Game of the Year award at theNASSCOM Gaming Forum Awards at NGDC 2013.

‘Meanwhile, In A Parallel Universe’ was originally created for the YoYo Games Microsoft Win Big competition, where it won second place. The strategy game features a distinctive 2D art style and puts the player in control of a zombie horde attempting to fend off a human invasion.

The game is currently available on the Windows 8 Store, with iOS and Android releases also planned.
