Grue Games CEO John Lindon takes rule of President at Seismic

Seismic Games acquires new studio Grue Games

Seismic Games has announced today that it’s acquired Grue Games, a new studio focused on mixed reality projects. This marks the end of the new company, as the combined teams will now operate under the Seismic Games brand.

There’s a little reshuffling with Seismic Games too, as the two teams merge together. Grue’s CEO John Lindon, who was previously the studio head of Activision Blizzard’s Beachhead, will be taking the role of President, while Grue’s Chief Creative Officer Trey Watkins will move into the role of leading the Grue Development teams.

Seismic itself was founding in 2011, and has worked on several original and licensed products, including previous work with Activision Blizzard on mobile properties based on Call of Duty and Skylanders. They claim they have two new games based on "major movie universes" to come in 2017. The company employ nearly 50 employees across its two offices in Los Angeles. Seismic Games’ CEO and co-founder Greg Borrud, is an industry veteran of nearly 20 years whose previous studio, Pandemic Games, was acquired by Electronic Arts in 2007 for $860 million.

In a press release, John Linden, now President of Seismic Games said that “The studio merge follows what has been an incredible year for both Grue and Seismic Games. It’s very exciting for the team and I to join forces with another like-minded studio who are equally as passionate in innovating and creating high quality games across mobile and VR platforms, with a key focus on taking mixed reality experiences and licensed game properties to the next level. We are very excited about our slate of games over the next few years.”
