Rumours claim Grand Theft Auto V on PS4, Xbox One and PC has slipped to 2015

It is being claimed that there was plenty of chatter” about a possible delay to the next-gen and PC version of Grand Theft Auto V at Gamescom earlier this month.

As outlined in the video below and explained on VG247, it was rumoured that next-gen GTA V was available on the Gamescom show floor, but only behind closed doors and only to retailers.

Speculation centred on the fact that the game was a no-show in Sony’s press conference despite being a big feature of its E3 presentation and despite being supposedly due out in the autumn.

When pressed on the matter VP of Sony Worldwide Studios Michael Denny apparently said that people shouldn’t read anything into that fact and that the only reason the game wasn’t shown was because there was nothing to add” to what was shown at E3.

Speaking to MCV about next-gen GTA V, Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick seemed to suggest that any possible delay would be down to his company’s commitment to quality.

We really are driven by our passion for the business,” he told MCV. I know it sounds hard to believe from capitalists, which we also are, but what keeps us up at night and gets us here early in the morning and makes us excited, is that we pride ourselves on making the best interactive entertainment in the business.

We are not trying to deliver the minimum acceptable quality and monetise it. We are trying to delight consumers and monetise it.

In the case of Grand Theft Auto V, nothing will satisfy Rockstar, nothing except the very, very best. They want to blow consumers away; whatever the expectation is, they want to exceed it. When you see GTA V for next-gen, I want you to call me and tell me whether it is or isn’t better than your expectation. I can guarantee it will be better.”
