New CEO Janet Dryer takes over as equity investor purchases leading tools provider

Perforce acquired by Summit Partners

Perforce Software, creators of the version management software of the same name, has been acquired.

The firm’s new parent is Summit Partners, a global growth equity investor, which believes it can help continue to grow Perforce’s market.

In addition to the acquisition, Perforce is also getting a new CEO in the form of Janet Dryer, who has been working in the software industry since 1985. She has held various positions at HelpSystems, including president as of 1998, and CEO and executive chairwoman from 2007 to 2015.

Meanwhile, Summit’s MD Peter Rottier and VP Scott Ferguson have joined the Perforce Board of Directors.

Perforce Software will continue to operate as an independent entity, maintaining its existing account management, customer support, professional services, engineering and marketing operations.

“Perforce Software has had an incredible history of growth with thousands of global brands depending on its Helix platform every day,” Perforce’s product marketing director Mark Warren told Develop. “With a history of innovation, Perforce has steadily advanced its products to become the most flexible, scalable and secure version control platforms in the industry.

“The Summit team brings a wealth of expertise in support of growth initiatives and will guide the company to opportunities that benefit Perforce customers and partners.”
