Online gaming developer-publisher to release and maintain Gods & Heroes MMO with PlayGrid Platform

Heatwave Interactive acquires new IP and tech

Developer and publisher Heatwave Interactive has acquired the IP for Gods & Heroes: Rome Rising, meaning it is to release and maintain the MMO, which was first announced in 2005 by Perpetual Entertainment. As part of Heatwave’s deal the firm has also purchased two game engines, and secured a multi-title source code license to use the PlayGrid’s online publishing platform.

“Heatwave’s philosophy is to identify and develop world class IP, and we believe the project is just that,” said Anthony Castoro, co-founder and CEO, Heatwave Interactive. “With this acquisition Heatwave greatly expands its core development capabilities as well as adding a well-known, award-winning title to its expanding intellectual property portfolio. This game hits the Heatwave ‘HIP’ mark in terms of its social gaming features and the intrinsic entertainment value found in its mythological storyline, high action adventure and beautiful art style. ”

Heatwave has confirmed that it is to use the game engines and publishing platform, which BioWare perviously licensed for use on Star Wars Online, for a number of unannouced future MMOs.
