San Francisco conference to address economic crisis and financial opportunities

GDC09: Business sessions round-up

As the 2009 Game Developers Conference draws close, we take a look at the highlights of the event’s business focused sessions.

With the economic downturn continuing to dominate many headlines, GDC has a number of sessions that will turn attention to weathering the credit crunch, such as ‘Riding the Waves of Change: How Video Game Companies Can Flourish in an Environment of Relentless Volatility and Flux’, which includes speakers from Activision, Relic, Disney Interactive and others.

Additional business sessions include include ‘My Lessons Learned from Flagship Studios’ by Stephen Goldstein, former director of business development and general counsel at Flagship, and ‘From Bungie to Bootstrapping – Starting an Independent Developer’, which will be lead by Max Hoberman of Certain Affinity.

On top of all of those, ‘The Big Picture 2009: Managing Your Game Dev Deal and Operating Your Game Dev Studio’ will bring together a number of speakers from law firms, plus representatives from Bungie and Insomniac.

The Game Developers Conference takes place at San Francisco’s Moscone Center from March 23rd to 27th.
