The Gameslab Leeds programme, which launched in November 2016 has today announced that £157,000 of grants has been awarded to nine companies in the area.
The programme, created by Creative England, will see the creation and safeguarding of up to 40 jobs with nearly another 20 expected to be created. There will also be 10 research partnerships for universities and academics by 2019.
The companies receiving finance are BetaJester, Ocean Spark Studios, D M Media, Cooperative Innovations (trading as Barog Games Lab), Torchbearer Interactive, Gentleman of Science, One to One Development Trust, Fierce Kaiju, New Moon Games, Twelve Oaks Software, Red Kite Games, Enchantainment and GasLight Games.

"Gameslab has proven itself to be a tangible and practical force in developing and driving the gaming industry in Leeds forward," said Creative England director of content, Solomon Nwabueze. We select the companies that we invest in very carefully; we’re working to support the creative economy outside of London, driving inclusive growth by nurturing fascinating IP."
