FMOD.io will launch with a collection of sound effects and music designed specifically for games

Firelight adds online features to FMOD Studio

FMOD creators Firelight Technologies have announced a new suite of online features for its flagship product.

Collectively referred to as FMOD.io, this is an archive of music and sound effects that developers can access within FMOD Studio – the idea being that devs will no longer need to leave the program to search for the sound they need.

Firelight has partnered with APM Music to gain access to Quantum Tracks, encompassing thousands of loopable music clips, and Loopmasters, a supplier of music construction kits. Meanwhile, Sound Ideas will provide sound effects, and Soundrangers will help devs with adaptive audio.

All audio and music will be specifically designed to be deconstructed and remixed in FMOD Studio.

"We designed FMOD.io with indie developers in mind," explained FMOD Studio product lead Raymond Biggs. "We think indies with tight budgets and even tighter schedules will embrace FMOD.io as a source of high quality adaptive audio that not only sounds great but is ready to go."

Further details about the new service and additional FMOD.io features will be revealed closer to launch. Devs can keep up to date at www.fmod.io.
