Department for Culture, Media and Sport encouraging developers to share their success stories

#CreateUK week to celebrate UK games developers and more

This week has been declared #CreateUK week, and UK developers are encouraged to take part.

The initiative is designed to champion the successes of the UK’s creative industries, including TV, film and – of course – video games development by promoting our nation’s accomplishments via Twitter, blogs and more.

According to the Department for Culture, Media & Sport, the UK’s creative industries generate £8m per hour for the UK economy.

Each day of #CreateUK week will be dedicated to a particular sector within the UK industries, with an hour-long chat on Twitter between 1pm and 2pm to discuss certain issues. A full schedule of planned discussions can be found on the DCMS website.

Develop will be getting involved, and we encourage any readers to do so too. Want to write anything about the UK’s development industry for our site? Email James.Batchelor@intentmedia.co.uk.

We’re also trying to compile a list of all the games currently in development in the UK. If you’re a UK developer (whether a one-man indie or part of a 100-person team), let us know what you’re working on by emailing Craig.Chapple@intentmedia.co.uk.

And why not check out last year’s Develop 100 UK Hot List: a free guide to the 100 best studios this country has to offer, plus a comprehesive directory of UK-based studios (although TIGA reports that another 100+ studios have opened in the last year).
