Develop Awards 2015: Partner Spotlight – OPM Jobs

Continuing our series of profiles on the firm’s backing this year’s Develop Awards, we take a look at OPM Response.

The firm’s Kim Parker-Adcock discusses why the agency has invested in discipline-specific consultants, and why more devs should consider working with charities.

For any readers who might not know you, tell us a little more about your company and its goal.

We are a recruitment agency working specifically in the computer games and interactive entertainment industries. Our goal is to help fill open positions for our clients and find games industry work for job seekers. Recruiting for staff or finding a job can be difficult in this industry, so we aim to make this process as easy and effective for everyone; essentially creating more happy employees and more happy studios.

What differentiates you from similar outfits? What’s unique about you?

Each of our consultants is a specialist in their area of the games industry; the art consultant looks after artists and handles artist vacancies, the design consultant handles design vacancies, etc. Each consultant is an expert in their area of expertise; meaning that we can drill down on the specifics of a vacancy or into a job seekers experience and skillset. This certainly contributes to the high level of service you can expect from us.

What excites and/or encourages you about the games industry and games development today?

The games industry seems to be collaborating with other industries a lot more and we are seeing some really exciting and promising projects. The work that some developers are doing with hospitals and charities in particular are really encouraging, both from a business perspective and a human one. We really do work in an amazing industry and we feel privileged to talk to some of these developers on a daily basis.

Regarding the Develop Awards finalists, what does it say to you about the industry and development today?

There is such a wide range of companies nominated this year. It really tells the story of how far we’ve come as an industry and the variety on offer in way of games, products and services. There are some new names and of course some of the more recognisable ones, overall it looks like the industry is in a strong position.

Do you have a message for the finalists?

Enjoy the night and good luck! The awards are always a special evening whether you win or you don’t, so have a good time and hopefully a Develop Award could be the cherry on top.

Anything else you’d like to add about your company and the Develop Awards?

We’re really looking forward to another fantastic evening in Brighton, so we’d like to give a big thank you to everyone that helped make this event possible!
