Autodesk adds animation extensions for Maya and 3ds Max

New features to aid artists 'make more sophisticated physical simulations'
Software provider Autodesk has released new extensions for its Maya 2013 and 3ds Max 2013 3D animation software.
Available to users with active subscription contracts, the newly added features are intended to help artists create more sophisticated physical simulations and move data more easily through complex pipelines.
The extension for 3ds Max augments the power and flexibility of the Particle Flow system, enabling artists to create more sophisticated and customised physical simulations faster.
Artists can create particle simulations that replicate real world effects with the new mParticles module for the MassFX system of simulation solvers.
In addition, users can create customised Particle Flow tools using the new Advanced Data Manipulation toolset.
This extension also enables artists to work more efficiently with Cache Disk and Cache Selective, two new Cache operators for the software’s Particle Flow toolset. This feature will also be available in the extension for 3ds Max 2013 software.
The extension for Maya 2013 helps users’ complex data flow more smoothly through the sophisticated pipelines.
And a new shader tool, Maya DX11Shader, will help artists harness the power of DirectX 11 to create and edit high-quality assets and images in less time.
Autodesk is currently demonstrating its software at Siggraph 2012.
