Tim Schafer's team quadruples budget target
The game industry’s most successful crowdfunding campaign ever has soared to new heights with fans pledging a total of $1.6 million to the project.
Last week, San Francisco studio Double Fine launched a Kickstarter campaign with the aim to pool together $400,000 from individual investments as small as $1.
The firm passed that milestone in an extraordinary eight hours as fans and the industry became gripped by a crowdfunding craze.
Double Fine’s Kickstarter - publicly orchestrated by the studio's game designer Tim Schafer (pictured) - now has 29 days left to gather further investments.
There is a convincing likelihood that the studio will pass at least $2 million by the time the funding closes.
