Users can now browse store and interact with friends through iOS and Android
Valve has opened up its new Steam app to the public after completing the beta testing period launched last Thursday.
Steam customers can now access their accounts through iOS and Android, enabling them to browse game catalogues, interact with friends and keep up to date on new items to hit the store.
Valve co-founder Gabe Newell said that app was released so the company could help meet customer demands and make the platform more accessible for users.
“Mobile is changing way people interact, play games and consume media, and the Steam app is part of our commitment to meet customer demands and expand the service functionality of Steam to make it richer and more accessible for everyone,” he said.
Valve also announced last month that Steam had surpassed the 40 million user mark, and sold twice as many digital games in 2011 than the year prior.
