Fruit Ninja outfit takes Developer of the Year award as top Australian studio
Develop's sister-publication MCV Pacific has announced the winner of its Developer of the Year award.
Fruit Ninja studio Halfbrick is the deserving winner of the accolade.
The award is given out to the developer which has been the most beneficial to their local community, has created the best working culture for its employees, has been an integral part of the Australian and New Zealand games development scene, and which has come up with the most fun, addictive and unique games this year.
"At a troubled time for the region, there have been many great examples of developers helping one another this year," said MCV Pacific editor Leigh Harris of the territory the award represents. "The support from all corners of the community has been truly astonishing, with people from all parts of the community coming together at events, conferences and in droves to push causes. Developers are all helping one another to weather this transitionary period and be prepared as best we can for the future of Australian and New Zealand game development."

Halfbrick is one of the most polific indie success stories of the last few years, having been working hard on game development for over a decade in Australia before their biggest breakout success with the now world-renowned brand Fruit Ninja, they're also responsible for modern classic arcade titles Jetpack Joyride, Raskulls and Age of Zombies.
Antony Reed, CEO of the Game Developers' Association of Australia, told MCV Pacific: "Halfbrick's passion for making games is manifested in each of their creations.
"The respect they have for their players, and the craft, is evidenced in the inordinate amount of time they spend polishing before a 'game by Halfbrick' is released to the world. But it is in their generosity and reciprocity that Halfbrick truly shine."
Without seeking fortune of favour, Halfbrick is committed to supporting the Australian game development industry; willingly offering their time, experience and guidance to those who ask without exception. Truly deserving winners.
Congratulations to Halfbrick and all the MCV Pacific Developer of the Year award nominees for this year.
