Disney-owned developer likely turning its attention to digital games
Brighton group Black Rock Studios has moved from triple-A racing projects to free-to-play digital titles, new data suggests.
The Split/Second creator said it is looking for a new game director in a Develop Jobs post, adding that its new project “is created with Unity and the role requires an in-depth understanding of free-to-play gaming and gaming in general”.
The new role is also seeking someone who is “passionate about player metrics”, further suggesting the studio is building a web-based game.
However, the studio’s choice to build content on the Unity Engine means there is a range of platforms the game could launch on.
Unity-built games have been released on a wide variety of platforms including iPhone, XBLA and Android tablets.
Black Rock has undergone a transformation in recent months. In May, parent company Disney Interactive began a layoff operation that, according to unconfirmed accounts, affected as many as 40 people.
It was also claimed the studio had been put on a single production line.
