Famed indies establish new body to aid next wave of renegade studios
A number of the most successful independent developers of the current gaming generation have clubbed together to form a new funding source for budding small scale studios.
Named Indie Fund, the new body includes members such as World of Goo creators Ron Carmel and Kyle Gabler, collectively known as 2D Boy, Jonathan Blow of Braid fame, and Kellee Santiago of fl0wer's thatgamecompany.
"Indie Fund is a brand new funding source for independent developers, created by a group of successful indies looking to encourage the next wave of game developers," reads a statement on the Indie Fund official website. "It was established as a serious alternative to the traditional publisher funding model. Our aim is to support the growth of games as a medium by helping indie developers get financially independent and stay financially independent."
