LightSpeed licensees can now integrate sky and cloud rendering tools
Licensed users of Gamebryo’s LightSpeed engine can now integrate Sundog Software’s sky and 3D cloud middleware.
Sundog’s SilverLining SDK brings what the firm terms as “physically realistic skies, clouds, lighting, and precipitation effects”.
The SDK will ask developers for times of day and weather conditions to which the middleware produces an appropriate render of sky, clouds, and weather effects within their application automatically. The effects are said to achieve a natural impression by scattering of sunlight and moonlight through the atmosphere.
The newest integration to LightSpeed is likely to be Emergent’s last licence partnership of the year; twelve months which saw the engine expand fast with integration of technologies such as Autodesk 3ds Max 2010, Maya 2010, Direct3D 11, Mixamo animation tech, Digital molecular Matter, Xaitment AI and PhysX.
”The SilverLining integration provides a seamless authoring experience within the LightSpeed workflow,” said Emergent Game Technologies’ Katie Morgan.
“From rapid content creation with the custom entity library to real-time interaction with SilverLining elements within the Worldbuilder editor, users will quickly appreciate the speed at which they can create dramatic results for outdoor environments.”
