Realtime Worlds reveals ?very ambitious? new project

GameHorizon: Upcoming game was the studio's first project, commencing before Crackdown and funded by a $30m VC investment

Realtime Worlds boss Dave Jones has announced that the Dundee-based developer is working on a “very, very ambitious” game that had begun development even before its debut title Crackdown.

Released in 2007, Crackdown was previously thought to be the first project Realtime Worlds had worked on since opening its doors in 2002.

Not so; Jones told attendees at the GameHorizon conference in Newcastle that this new title was the original game the group set out to create, and was even provided with $30 million in venture capital funding.

Jones gave no further details on the game.

Realtime Worlds recently expanded its studio size to accommodate the aggressive expansion the company is embarking on. The studio currently has around 250 workers, though this is expected to increase to 300 by early 2010.
