This month's cover story is our exclusive, in-depth and candid interview with Lionhead chief Peter Molyneux. Without an upcoming title to promote, Molyneux tells us all about the mistakes he's made while running Lionhead - and how a crucial period in the company's life caused a re-evaluation that has turned the studio around and truly enabled it to become a modern, responsible games developer.
But that's not all on the interview front. When we got the opportunity to interview Atari founder (and now BAFTA fellow) Nolan Bushnell, we didn't just want to do a straight Q&A. So we got his good friend Will Wright to grill the innovator on the origins of the industry, his fixation with restaurants and how he destroyed pinball. Will's question, not ours.
We've also taken a look stereoscopic 3D gaming - everyone's making a lot of noise about it, but is it really viable on the current generation of consoles? We visited Blitz to see their experiments and get to the bottom of the murky, standard-less issue, and even why they're bothering when there's so few TV sets around.
Also featured is a profile on Derby-based developer Strawdog Studios, Dave Jones tells us about his forecasts for the UK development industry and his Develop Conference keynote, former Pixar artist Jeremy Vickers talks to us about game technology, childrens TV producer Jocelyn Stevenson details how she collaborated with Traveller's Tales for near-realtime rendering of a recent program, Kuju's technical director Jeremy Vickers tells us about Kuju's middleware usage and its plans for the next generation, Zoe Mode talks us through scoring You're in the Movies, Perforce highlight the seven features you should be using in its software, and Realtime Worlds details its experiments with Audiokinetic's innovative new sound generation technology SoundSeed.
That's not to mention all of our regular contributors, plus new design columnist Billy Thomson from Ruffian Games, Yuji Naka tells us why he loves Lemmings, our guide to GDC and details of our new global mobile development competition in conjunction with Zeemote. And - and! - we've even had a nice redesign, which we think is far more splendid to the eye.
