The July issue of Develop, number 85, has been sent to subscribers and is now available to read online - for free - as a PDF here (registration required).
With the Develop conference and expo and Develop Awards in Brighton looming, we turn the spotlight on the UK coastal city which hosts the popular event. The cover story is an in-depth roundtable discussion with the leading games studios based in Brighton - Babel, Black Rock, NCsoft, Relentless and Zoe Mode - to find out how the city has become a prominent hub for games development in the UK.
We've also got a detailed guide to the conference, including the latest schedule plans for the three-day event, which run from July 29th to the 31st.
Elsewhere in the issue we have an interview with Valve's Gabe Newell on PC gaming and the rise of the studio's digital distribution platform Steam, a joint interview with Rebellion leaders Jason and Chris Kingsley and a Q&A with Sony Studios head Shuhei Yoshida.
Plus. we have a look at how planning for procedural content is helping shape the way games are made.
Meanwhile, our Alpha section offers the usual opinion and analysis pieces - including an IP profile of Elite - while our Build section features the usual mix of technology news and interviews.
Develop 85 also features another issue of our Develop Insider supplements: this one puts Disney's Black Rock studio in Brighton under our microscope. More details on that will be available online later this week.
