New studio seeks to address work/life balance
Three ex-staff members of Rainbow Studios have split off to create their own development company, TimeFly.
The newly-formed studio says that it will be creating games based on both original IP and licensed properties, and named genres including action/adventure, music and puzzle games.
One of the core concepts of the studio is that of addressing the quality of life issue, with vice president Glenn O'Bannon saying: "We have industry-standard pay and benefits plus some perks right now that very few small companies can provide.
"Design-oriented development with proper project management will allow us to develop games on-time and on-budget, while minimizing the long term 'crunch' periods traditionally associated with game development."
The three vets - Brad Ruminer, Dennis Booth and Glenn O'Bannon - worked on titles including Motocross Madness, MX vs. ATV and Disney/Pixar's Cars during their time at Rainbow, and cumulatively have over 30 years experience in the industry.
