CCP to merge with RPG company

CCP, the Icelandic developer responsible for MMO Eve Online, is to merge with pen-and-paper RPG company White Wolf.

The move allows the studio to use White Wolf's knowledge when creating Eve Online merchandise, while the RPG company hopes CCP can take its role-playing titles online. Work is already afoot in turning White Wolf's World of Darkness into an MMO.

The two will still operate under their respective name, with White Wolf a wholly-owned subsidiary of CCP. Hilmar Petursson, CEO of CCP, will become CEO of the combined company.

Said Petursson: " Virtual worlds are a new form of entertainment, separate from traditional computer games. By combining forces, we will create a company unsurpassed in quality, innovation, and scope which will keep us at the forefront of this emerging trend."
