New iOS offering from Jackbox Games melds mobile game and console experiences
CHICAGO, ILLINOISndash; September 19, 2013ndash; Independent developer Jackbox Games today announced the official launch of YOU DONrsquo;T KNOW JACK reg; Party for iOS. This new live multiplayer version of the venerated interactive trivia franchise allows your iOS device or Apple TV to serve as the primary display while other mobile devices, running the free JackPadtrade; app, turn your iOS or Android device into a YOU DONrsquo;T KNOW JACK controller.
ldquo;YOU DONrsquo;T KNOW JACK Party blurs the lines between mobile and console gamingrdquo; said Mike Bilder, GM, Jackbox Games.ldquo;This new app is our first of several planned releases that leverage mobile technology like Applersquo;s AirPlay to bring people together to play on whatever screen they choose.rdquo;
With the YOU DONrsquo;T KNOW JACK Party app, players can use either an Apple TV connected display (via AirPlay) or an iPhone or iPad as the primary screen. Then, up to four other players can play along via the free JackPad controller app. Gamers wishing to have a single-player experience can do so via Apple TV and a single iOS device.
YOU DONrsquo;T KNOW JACK Party will launch with a free trial episode and 30 additional 11-question episodes available as in-app purchases. The core mechanics of the 2013 Ouya and 2011 console releases are all present including Screw your Neighbor trade; and the Wrong Answer of the Game trade;.
ldquo;We believe that the kinds of games we make are the most fun when played on the couch with your friends and family,rdquo; said Harry Gottlieb, founder and creator of YOU DONrsquo;T KNOW JACK.ldquo;So along with our other mobile games, wersquo;re looking at every technology possible to allow us to create experiences that get players having fun together.rdquo;
YOU DONrsquo;T KNOW JACK Party will be followed by additional together-play apps for iOS and future platforms based on technology and player interest. The line of apps is the latest innovation from the Chicago studio that has evolved from developing the original YOU DONrsquo;T KNOW JACK for PC, which sold more than five million total units, to the SPIKE TV 2012 Social Game of the Year (YOU DONrsquo;T JACK for Facebook), to this yearrsquo;s release of Lie Swattertrade;, Clone Boothtrade; and the upcoming Word Puttztrade;.
