Osamu Kodera: CEO of MONSTARS, Inc., Game Designer/Programmer

20-year game industry veteran

Osamu Kodera began his career at SEGA as a game and toy designer, while later becoming a programmer. One of his most significant works at SEGA was designing and programming the epic ‘boss’ encounters of Rez. Later, as a founding member of Q Entertainment, he was given an assignment to create a new puzzle game. He created Lumines, which went on to become a critically-acclaimed blockbuster hit around the world that many publications dubbed ‘the new Tetris.’

On Child of Eden, as technical director and lead programmer he led the game’s pioneering charge into the world of motion controls on both Xbox 360 Kinect and PlayStation Move, while also converting the game’s spectacular visual effects into full stereoscopic 3D (on PS3). In October 2011, he founded MONSTARS Inc. and in May 2012 released the studio’s first effort, Kotomon.
