Singapore, 26 December, 2012– Vietnam made a clean sweep of the three top prizes for the EA SPORTS™ FIFA Online 2 competition at, One Asia Cup 2012 (“OAC 2012”), one of the largest regional cyber game tournaments held at the state-of-the-art Cyber Jaya MyCORE Center in Kuala Lumpur (Malaysia) from December 14 to 16? 2012.

They emerged victorious from among 20 finalists chosen from 3,000 players in five countries– Singapore, Indonesia, Thailand, Vietnam and host country Malaysia– to win the cash prize of USD 7,000 in addition to the sponsored items, medals and cups.

Vietnam is the champion for the third consecutive year in this annual competition. And it is the first time that Vietnam won all the top three places. All the winners are students.

Nguy?n L? Thanh T?ng, the 18-year old student champion from Ho Chin Minh city, who started playing FIFA Online 2 since 2009, said:“I honed my skills in the game by playing against other players of the game– which has a huge following in Vietnam. My team-mates and I had carefully prepared our skills, tactics, psychology and physical strength for the competition. We look forward to defending our titles in OAC 2013!”

Besides the EA SPORTS™ FIFA Online 2 competition, the other core game in the three-day cyber game tournament was the fast-paced and adrenaline pumping tactical game, Counter-Strike™ Online.

Sixteen teams, with 80 contestants from Singapore and Malaysia battled for the crown.? The Malaysian team, OrangeEsports, won the gold medal and collected a USD 4,000 prize. The silver and bronze medals went to Singapore team, LiteLab, and Team LZ of Malaysia respectively.

Ramona Azween, the only female player of OrangeEsports, said:“This is a 5 vs 5 tactical game and so teamwork is extremely important. We practised together a lot and every member knows his/her right position. Each member of our team has a different type of favourite weapon. In this way, we can support each other well, making us a perfect combination. That’s how we won.”

More than 1,000 gamers who packed the Cyber Jaya MyCORE Center in Kuala Lumpur to support their favourite teams were treated to exciting cosplay shows and received gifts/game accessories worth up to RM500 each.

The tournament was organized by IAH Games, the Singapore-based online games operator and distributor.

IAH Games Group CEO, Mr Roland Ong said,“The tournament has exceeded our expectations. A total of 160,000 gamers watched the OAC 2012 via TwitchTV live stream, which is 50% more than our anticipated 100,000 viewers. This shows the gamers’ strong interest in OAC which is gaining extensive attention rapidly in the region.
