“Rewarding the millions of people around the globe who have helped Etermax become one of the most important mobile gaming development companies in the world was essential. Everything we have developed began with an idea that we shaped to meet the needs of our users, by analyzing and acting on their feedback. It’s a real pride to see that our app became a playful tool that encourages users to gain knowledge and share it with other users all over the world.” said Maximo Cavazzani, CEO and founder of Etermax.

In 2017, the app continues to have unique staying power, adding to a roster of record-breaking successes including:

  • +300 million unique users worldwide
  • #1 in 45 countries across four continents
  • 80 billion questions answered so far; 21 billion for the U.S.

“This is a great occasion for us to look back at what we’ve achieved in the past four years. The road to success can be long and complicated, yet learning from our mistakes and integrating our users’ feedback is how we’ve learnt to perform better,” Cavazzani continued. “The implementation of the Question Factory, for example, was a defining moment in our path as it enabled us to offer a first of its kind feature to our user base, while delivering fresh and high-quality content resulting in an improved user experience.”

The Trivia Crack app was launched in 2013 and found immediate popularity among app users who were challenged to answer questions in categories ranging from History to Sports. The game crossed new borders making its TV debut during one of LATAM’s top TV shows, offering the viewers a second screen experience for the first time. In 2015, it became the 5th most played iOS game in the world, and was the first game app featured on the Apple Watch. Etermax then partnered up with Amazon to launch a merchandising line including board games, figurines and clothing.

The 2013 launch quickly spread across Latin America and by 2014 Etermax set its sights on the U.S. and global domination. Trivia Crack was named #1 iPhone App of 2014 and 2015 by Apple and earned numerous achievements like Google “App of the Year” award from Amazon US, and “Best Mobile Game App” at the Mobile World Congress.

“On top of four years of record-breaking success, Trivia Crack’s strong focus on fostering creativity and knowledge is forever recognized as the game that transcended the barriers of electronic platforms with characters that have impacted the real world. The success of our ideas is attributed to the dedication of our designers, developers and engineers who work to make everything we do more creative, more efficient and more enjoyable,” said Simón Selva, Etermax Chief Operations Officer.

Trivia Crack’s success has produced several spin-offs including Trivia Crack X and Trivia Crack Kingdoms, with Trivia Crack’s library of updates scheduled for expansion in 2018. “Etermax will be doing new types of games, and our users will see more innovative use of technology,” Cavazzani said. “The Trivia Crack universe will continue to expand as we gather more content from users whose feedback has been critical to our maintaining the position as the world’s most popular app.”
