TheGameCreators have announced the competition winner for MyWorld, their new 3D action RPG multiplayer sandbox game launched in March this year.
First place with a cash prize of $1000 goes to ‘Arpee Geez’ by Anomalous.
It's described as a folksy fun adventure game in the town of Arpee, where you get to play as Boy Howdy, a stranger in town who gets to meet a series of colourful folks with interesting requests.
Second place is awarded to ‘ORDER - DISOBEDIENCE – TURMOIL’ by windebieste, who wins $250 with a single player game set in a small village, where you really do not want to upset the residents!
Third place and $100 goes to ‘Farmer Fredrick's Fields Of Doom’ by Antonov-40 Pilot.
The competition ran for 6 weeks and invited MyWorld users to create and submit a new and original game built in MyWorld. Entries had to be no longer than 60 minutes’ gameplay, and were judged on gameplay, storyline, level design and enjoyment factor.
Dave Milton, Lead Developer on MyWorld and one of the competition judges, said today, “We were delighted with the response to the competition and the standard of games throughout was excellent. We saw amazing use of level design, and great use of multiple worlds. MyWorld allowed everyone’s imagination to be put to the test which resulted in some great games.
"We fell in love with the characters (one NPC in particular!), and enjoyed the drama, the suspense, the non-stop giggles that these games provided. Well done and thank you to everyone who took part."
Released on Steam Early Access MyWorld allows you to create, share and play games and has been described by one of the community as “an excellent framework for beginners, MyWorld is like Minecraft for game design” - watch the video trailer to enjoy MyWorld in action.
