The Underground King - a strategy racing rpg

A simulation/strategy rpg game where you recruit the city's lowlifes, assemble junkyard cars and have them compete in street racing for profit and infamy!

The Romanian indie team The Underground King has launched on Steam Greenlight and 15 minutes after, Valve shut down Greenlight forever, in preparation for Steam Direct, thus earning the game, the title of Last game to ever be submitted on Greenlight.

"The final game to be submitted, though? It looks pretty neat." - Nathan Grayson, Kotaku

This was a blessing in disguise and Kotaku's Nathan Grayson picked up the story and wrote a very nice article. You can read about the article here: http://steamed.kotaku.com/the-final-steam-greenlight-game-actually-looks-pretty-c-1795873003

Alongside the Greenlight submission, the teams launched a Kickstarter campaign at the same time. You can visit the campaign page here: https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1026847873/the-underground-king-rpg-narrative-strategy-racing

"...interesting art style, very nice hand-drawn artwork [...] The Final game to be submitted to Steam Greenlight and what a nice story that it's actually a good one worthy of entry into Greenlight."  - Jim Sterling, Youtube

Because of the combination of events, as well as his Youtube speciality, Jim Sterling featured our game as part of his Greenlight Goodstuff, as well as his last video regarding Greenlight since it was closed. You can watch it here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iNdgxPEVKsk

The Underground King has a game core comprised of two stages: Management and Racing. In the main map you organize, strategize, upgrade and interact with events, while in the racing mode you compete with your car and drivers against enemy teams for resources. Your team of one car and three drivers competes against enemy teams that follow the same race rules, typically, crossing the finish line first. Each team, including your own, has unique abilities and stats that make every race exciting and challenging.

The Underground King will be release for PC, Mac, Linux in Q1 2018. An Early Access, singleplayer version of the game will be released on Steam in October 2017. A lightweight, multiplayer version of the game will be available for free on the AirConsole platform.

About The Underground King team:

Originally working on a different game, Alex Nae raged on Facebook groups as another programmer abandoned him close to releasing his game. Alexandru Nechita heard his cries, and sympathising with being abandoned, offered to quit his job and try the indie scene one more time. After a few days of adjustment, a strong friendship and efficient team was born, and the duo managed to work out a polished demo which they shared with the world.
