We are a Sydney based duo of artists known as Hermit Mode and are in the middle of a Kickstarter campaign to fund the development of “Huntsmen".
WHAT IS HUNTSMEN?
Huntsmen is an FPS – RPG hybrid focusing on exploration, combat and the manipulation of the evolving ecosystem inhabiting the gameworld.
Set in a post apocalyptic vision of the remnants of a coastal Australian inspired city, it will include densely packed urban areas, scattered around a mixture of bush land, desert, beach and underwater landscapes. With the decline in human activity, previously assumed extinct animals have once again flourished and now roam the landscape at will.
The landscape will be ripe for exploration, with dynamic elements and unlockable areas that are guarded by environmental puzzles. Combat will range from brutal melee to intense fire fights between groups, with both craftable weapons along with traditional firearms being available. Limited resources change the nature of the gameplay periodically. There is also an element of survival that pushes the player to scavenge for items and food. Other game play options exist in the form of cultivation of fruits and vegetables, fishing and hunting.
A central game play feature of Huntsmen is the simulated ecosystem with a simplified evolution mechanic.
Every animal NPC has parts of its body subject to randomization at spawn. For each animal type (e.g. dog, cat, bird), three variants are created at the beginning of the game. After a pre determined amount of time e.g. a day, the variant which was killed the least becomes the new default, with which three new variants are made and the cycle repeats. Through this, players will be able to direct the evolution of animals. However, it doesn’t stop at aesthetics as the same principle applies to values that dictate behavior of every NPC.
WHO WE ARE:
We are a two person independent team with creative backgrounds.
We taught ourselves how to model and get things working to a point but now we have reached the limit of our technical abilities and need programmers to bring our vision to life. We have invested a lot of time, money and sleepless nights to bring this concept to where it is now and feel we are ready to share the idea in the hope of raising funds as we have conceptualised some very fun mechanics we believe players will enjoy.
The money we raise will be put into hiring programmers, artists, animators, sound designers and marketing.
