Sumo Digital opens up at Games Britannia

One of the UK’s largest independent game development studios will give budding game designers a sneak peek into the development of their latest projects at the Games Britannia festival in July.

Sumo Digital, known for their work with SEGA on the Sonic and SEGA All-Stars Racing franchise, and with the BBC on Doctor Who: The Adventure Games, will open their doors to aspiring student developers at a special day of events at the festival.

Students attending the day will hear from a number of key staff at Sumo, and will get feedback on their own portfolios from members of the company’s expert development teams.

Sumo Digital are one of the largest exhibitors at the Games Britannia: REPLAYED expo event at MAGNA on the weekend of 7-8 July. This huge event, open to the general public, will feature Sumo’s games alongside those of Sony, Nintendo, Namco-Bandai and many others.

Paul Porter, Sumo’s studio head, will deliver an address at the opening of the festival on Monday 2 July.

He said: "It’s fantastic to be able to support an event like Games Britannia and help to inspire the next generation of videogame talent. Sheffield has a long history of game development, which allows Sumo to draw upon a large, experienced talent pool. But we’re always interested in spotting and developing new talent as well.”

Tickets for Games Britannia: REPLAYED are available to purchase from the MAGNA website: https://www.visitmagna.co.uk/book/event/398

A limited number of places are still available for the free open day, and are available to book from http://www.eventbrite.co.uk/event/3693922622
