Saturday Morning RPG Original Soundtrack by Vince DiCola and Kenny Meriedeth Now Available

Legendary composer of Rocky IV and Transformers: The Movie releases first videogame score paying tribute to '80s cartoons

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

San Diego, California - January 28, 2014 -  Scarlet Moon Records is pleased to announce the release of the  Saturday Morning RPG Original Soundtrack, featuring the work of legendary musician Vince DiCola --known for his work on  Transformers: The Movie and  Rocky IV--and his writing partner, Kenny Meriedeth. Additional talent is featured, including Jake "virt" Kaufman, Grant "stemage" Henry, and Dmitry "C-jeff" Zhemkov, who provide their own unique arrangements from the soundtrack.

Those familiar with Vince DiCola's work will feel right at home among the heavy synth-infused progressive rock soundscapes that DiCola and Meriedeth have crafted. As  Saturday Morning RPG pays tribute to classic '80s cartoons, the main theme is appropriately upbeat and catchy, while the various battle themes should prove to be favorites among fans.

"I've been a fan of Vince DiCola since my childhood," notes Scarlet Moon Records producer Jayson Napolitano. "When I heard he was finally immersing himself in my other passion, videogames, I had to do everything I could to make sure as many people as possible would hear what he and Kenny Meriedeth have accomplished."

In addition to  Saturday Morning RPG's soundtrack and arrangements, the album also offers music that may be featured in future episodes of the game, along with the vocal rock track, "No Risk No Glory," which hasn't been released until now.

"Everyone is happy with the results and it was a pleasure working with Josh Fairhurst and his team," reflects Vince DiCola. "I've worked in videogames before, but mostly as an arranger only. This was an opportunity for Kenny Meriedeth and I to actually compose music for a videogame, and after doing so we are definitely excited about future opportunities to do so!"

Throughout the 1980s, Vince DiCola amazed audiences with his signature blend of progressive rock with emotional orchestral accents. He developed a dedicated following over his expansive career, which saw DiCola go on to become a prolific recording artist and arranger. DiCola has worked on titles in the videogame industry before, but never in this capacity, and he's happy to give his fans a chance to hear his first videogame score.

The  Saturday Morning RPG Original Soundtrack is now available from  iTunes, Amazon MP3,  Loudr (where the album is bundled with the previously-released "Christmas Adventure" single), and  Bandcamp (where a limited-print physical edition is available).

About The Composers

Vince DiCola is a prolific composer, arranger, and performer who has made a name for himself with the development of his signature blend of progressive rock with emotional orchestral accents. His work on the Rocky IV and Transformers: The Movie in the 1980s are among those cited as inspirations to many composers working in the film and videogame industries today.

After decades of working on solo efforts and appearing as a session artist and arranger on a variety of projects, including a joint arrangement with Doug Bossi of the Gran Turismo main theme, "Moon Over the Castle," for Gran Turismo 5, he's finally making his debut as a composer in the videogame industry with writing partner Kenny Meriedeth on Saturday Morning RPG.
