Gunstar Heroes was developed by Treasure, the Japanese studio known for frantic action games and innovative gameplay systems, and first published by SEGA for the SEGA Genesis/Mega Drive. The game has two playable characters, ‘Red’ and ‘Blue’ - two members of the Gunstar family - who are on a mission to stop the Empire, an evil organisation that has set out to destroy civilization. At the time of release, Gunstar Heroes met widespread approval from critics and fans alike and has been listed by multiple publications as one of the best video games of all time.
