Playmob launches Gaming Tuesday

New, annual, non-profit video games fundraising initiative launching on Tuesday 3rd December 2013

London, UK – Monday 21st October 2013 Playmob, the London-based technology company championing charitable fundraising through video games, today announced the first details of its non-profit initiative Gaming Tuesday ( www.gamingtuesday.org).

Gaming Tuesday is an initiative created to partner with the established global day #GivingTuesday ( www.givingtuesday.org).  The new movement champions games developers to come together and kick off the festive period by providing their players with the option to support a charity of their choice (and do good) whilst playing their favourite game.

#GivingTuesday, the annual day of giving which takes place on the Tuesday following Black Friday and Cyber Monday is designed to raise funds for worthy causes. Playmob envisions that Gaming Tuesday will demonstrate the passion, creativity and generosity of the gaming and development communities.

Charities involved in Gaming Tuesday to date include: Chance to Grow / War Child / Weforest / WWF / HelpUSA / Marys Meals / Cybersmile / Friends of the Earth / Project Moz / Sos Childrens Villages / Special Effect / Computer International and Action for Kids. Playmob is planning to announce game developers and content for Gaming Tuesday in the coming weeks.

Jude Ower, Founder & CEO, PlayMob, said:

‘With the success of PeaceGames which we launched in September 2013, Gaming Tuesday is a chance for the industry to come together on a specially created platform, to raise funds and awareness for causes they are most passionate about. Our new events platform is about bringing together partners in the games industry to create a movement for the greater good. Whether it be a studio, publisher, platform, live streaming site or community, each partner will play an important role in maximising impact’

Gaming Tuesday welcomes contributions from publishers and developers looking to provide feature content, competition prizes, or sponsorship. If you’re interested, please contact Lee Hinds, Lee@playmob.com

About Playmob

Playmob enables gamers to give to global causes while playing their favourite games. Our ethos is simple - support a cause through in-game actions.

The core objective of Playmob is transparency. We believe that every gamer should see what they are directly impacting, and how much the cause will receive, in real-time. By linking to in-game actions, we also help to tell a story and capture the imaginations of players, showing them how a simple action can lead to life-changing good, globally.

Playmob have created a platform to help developers and publishers quickly and simply set up a charitable campaign, and making their players feel amazing while they play. By working with gaming and charity partners, Playmob combine the two by doing the heavy lifting, so we can start to make a positive impact today.
