p>Playful Corp., the team behind Lucky’s Tale and Super Lucky’s Tale (an Xbox Play Anywhere title), announced that Mark Stanley joined Playful Corp. as the company’s Chief Business Officer. This is a new position for the studio, aimed at further building Playful’s long-term vision of developing timeless stories and lovable characters to even more people around the world.
Paul Bettner, Playful CEO and Founder, had this to say about Mark, “He has the same heart and soul as the rest of the Playful team. He brings immense experience building world-class entertainment and I am thrilled that he is joining our Playful mission, to bring joy to the world one game at a time.”
Prior to joining Playful, Mark brought his visionary talent to GameStop, where he helped the company evolve beyond a pure video game retail player through new ventures and diversification. Among other things, that included – most notably for Playful – developing key verticals like GameTrust, which is publishing Star Child, Playful’s sci-fi cinematic platformer coming in 2018.
Before that, Mark was part of the executive leadership at Sony where he was responsible for PlayStation’s launch and expansion into Latin America. He was also a key member of the PlayStation 4 global team, where he influenced the development and launch of the most successful console launch in the history of Sony.
Mark fell in love with Star Child from the start. After working closely with Playful for several months on its development, he also fell in love with the team there. He had this to say, “Not only does Playful have a clear vision for its future self, but it’s already well on its way towards achieving this vision. Beloved IP, cutting-edge innovation, global partnerships, and world-class minds are the core of this team, and I’m proud to be a part of such a talented and visionary collective.”
