Military Focused Video Game Charity Will Register Fund Raising Teams, Offer Prizes for Daily Push-Up Contest Winners at Boston Area Video Game Convention

WASHINGTON, D.C. (April 9, 2014) – Military-focused video game charity Operation Supply Drop today announced that it will be signing up teams for its charity gaming marathon, “8-Bit Salute,” during PAX East, which takes place April 11–13 in Boston. In addition, Operation Supply Drop will be holding men’s and women’s push-up contests at its booth (located in the main lobby area, near the official PAX East merchandise booth), with daily winners taking home an ASTRO Gaming headset and mix amp, courtesy of ASTRO Gaming. Operation Supply Drop will also award a Borderlands 2 PlayStation Vita bundle to one lucky registrant who registers for the marathon during PAX East (push-ups not required).

“This is our first appearance at PAX East, and we wanted to make it memorable and fun,” said Operation Supply Drop founder (and former Army Ranger Captain) Stephen “Shanghai Six” Machuga. “We look forward to expanding our roster of teams for our 8-Bit Salute event, and challenge everyone attending PAX to enter our daily push-up contests to determine the strongest gamers at the show.”

The third-annual 8-Bit Salute is a 24-hour gaming marathon to be held May 17-18 of this year. Donations raised during this charity event will fund videogame care packages, offering much-needed diversion and stress relief to combat-zone deployed troops and those recovering in military hospitals. This year’s 8-Bit Salute promises to be a star-studded event, promoted by Twitch.tv, with teams from Rooster Teeth, Naughty Dog, ASTRO, Popcap, Treyarch, Gearbox Studios, Capcom and dozens more competing for bragging rights and to raise funds.

Stephen “Shanghai Six” Machuga will be speaking to the media about Operation Supply Drop’s mission and charity events at the organization’s booth at PAX East. For an appointment, please visit our online scheduling system:
