BOSTON, JUNE 2017:
A new film is arriving soon to tell the story behind the future of brick and mortar stores and the final days of physical games.
Synopsis: Not For Resale is a feature documentary focused on mom and pop video game stores and the final days of physical media. A study on the transition of video games from tangible products to virtual goods, Not For Resale examines the topics of ownership and the future of digital distribution. Through interviews with the Library of Congress, leading video game developers, and countless independent game store owners, Not For Resale explores the history of these shops and seeks to understand how net neutrality and the battle between licensing and ownership will shape the consumption of new media in the future.
Filmed across the United States and Canada, Not For Resale is currently in mid-production with a 2018 release date. The Boston-based team at Fool’s Errand Productions is currently campaigning for $12,000 to finish the project.
