Casual Adventure Game Based on one of the Greatest Unsolved Mysteries
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
CHAPEL HILL, NC– July 23, 2009– Merscom announced today at the Casual Connect conference in Seattle that it is developing a casual adventure game based on one of the greatest unsolved mysteries, the legendary ghost ship Mary Celeste. The Mary Celeste was a merchant ship discovered in 1872 unmanned and abandoned in the Atlantic Ocean, despite beautiful weather and a crew of able and experienced seamen. The Mary Celeste herself was in perfect condition and still under full sail, with over six months of food and water still on board. Her cargo was effectively untouched and the personal belongings of the crew and passengers were still in place, including valuables. The crew was never seen or heard from again, and what happened to them is often cited as the greatest maritime mystery of all time.
As the ancestor of the person who found the abandoned Mary Celeste, you take on the roll of Mary Morehouse as she joins guests and crew of the Mary Celeste II on its maiden voyage. Shortly after the boat leaves the dock strange events startto happen and Mary must work to escape this ill fated ship. Explore the mysterious theories behind the disappearance of the original Mary Celeste while trying to save your self from a similar demise. Sail the seas in this haunting adventure, The Mystery of the Mary Celeste.
• Explore the Mary Celeste and her ghostly counter part as you work to save yourself from the same fate suffered by her original crew
• Solve puzzles, find needed items to save the two ships from disaster
• Find clues and enjoy a ghostly tale that explores the real life theories of the disappearance of the Mary Celeste’s crew.
“The Mystery of the Mary Celeste provides players the opportunity to explore and solve one of the most intriguing unsolved mysteries,” said Lloyd Melnick, Merscom’s Chief Customer Officer.“It is a match of story and gameplay mechanics that casual gamers love.”
