LOOKING FOR AN ENJOYABLE WAY TO SHARPEN UP YOUR MENTAL ARITHMETIC?

Free to play on iOS and Android, cZeus can boost numeracy skills and make maths fun

Tuesday February 25 th, 2014 – LONDON, UK – cZeus is a new free-to-play puzzle app which will both entertain players and sharpen up their mental arithmetic.

Simple to understand, but challenging to master, cZeus requires no specialised knowledge to play, but will hone all areas of basic arithmetic - addition, subtraction, multiplication and division – and puzzle-solving in an absorbing way. It’s an ideal brain-trainer for people who believe their maths skills are rusty, or need to be refreshed.

Created by finance professional and mathematician Dr Shohreh Blank for the Mathematical Games Company, cZeus is available on iOS and Android devices and is suitable for anyone from around 12 years old upwards.

Dr Blank believes that playing cZeus can help to improve players’ arithmetic, logic and memory function, when played regularly: “cZeus is a unique game using arithmetic patterns in a way that’s engaging and easy for people to pick up,” she says. “With current media reports of poor numeracy in school-leavers and many adults claiming to be poor at maths, this is a simple, free-to-play app which can really help to boost numeracy skills.”

In cZeus, the player is tasked with filling numbers on the on-screen grid, using the arithmetical clues on screen. As the player progresses through the levels, there are fewer clues given, but still enough to enable the grid to be solved. Each grid is unique with a single solution which can be worked out through a combination of arithmetic, logic and cZeus rules. Examples of cZeus puzzles and a game tutorial can be found on the game’s website at www.czeuspuzzles.com.

cZeus will be available in the App Store and Google Play Store from the end of March. Dr Shohreh Blank is available for interview on cZeus and its potential to improve players’ numeracy.
