Rio de Janeiro branch strategically positioned in the fastest growing videogame market and the first localization provider in Brazil.

Established over 18 years ago, Synthesis has grown into one of the leading videogame localization specialists in the world. Synthesis has quietly built up a prized reputation for high quality, reliability and flexibility and has been responsible for the localization of recent global smash hit games including Assassin’s Creed 3, the Call of Duty series, Tomb Raider, Dishonored and The Elder Scrolls 5– Skyrim .

The Synthesis Group is delivering publishers and developers a truly global localization service with offices and recording studios in the US, Italy, Spain, Japan, Germany and Singapore and is the first localization provider to open an office in Brazil.

With an estimated market value of $3.0bn (up 11% YoY) and over 116m gamers, the Latin American market is growing quickly. Brazil is leading the march with a market value of $2.6bn (up a massive 32% from 2011) and its estimated 40m gamers*. With publishers and developers looking towards new markets to successfully sell their games, high quality localization has never been more important.

For the past two years, Synthesis Group’s Brazilian localization projects have been managed by Synthesis Iberia, based in Madrid. However, it became very clear through the number and the size of the projects the Spanish office was winning that Brazilian Portuguese localization would become very important for Synthesis. It was therefore decided that a dedicated office within the Brazilian market would be needed.

The opening of the Synthesis Rio de Janeiro office, along with recording studios, was a very smooth transition due in no small part to their recent successes of translating and localizing Bioshock Infinite and Call of Duty– Black Ops 2 into Brazilian Portuguese. The Rio team was already aligned with Synthesis’ working methodologies, practices and quality controls which make up the key strengths of the Synthesis Group’s approach to localization.

Max Reynaud, Managing Director and Founder of the Synthesis Group said“Synthesis is the first videogame localization provider to open a branch in Brazil. We are very proud of our latest addition and we are investing in our new office as we believe that Brazil is now one of the most important markets in Latin America. Synthesis Brasil will play a critical role in expanding our business, allowing our clients to reach new markets and establishing Synthesis as the global provider of videogame localization.”

Mauro Bossetti, Managing Director of Synthesis Brasil said,“Our new branch is a logical development of the ever increasing number of requests coming from our clients concerning the Brazilian Portuguese language. The synergy with our colleagues in Madrid was critical for the rapid expansion of our team and will be fundamental to guarantee the highest quality for our localizations for the future.”
