A sneak peak at what’s hot and happening at this year’s rAge

The countdown has begun for Africa’s largest technology and video gaming exhibition, the really AWESOME gaming expo– rAge!?? Visitors can expect to see the hottest gaming hardware and software on display, live eSports events, gamer lifestyle exhibitions including Cosplay demonstrations, the Artist’s Alley and opportunities for visitors to get hands-on with a variety of collectable card games. Taking place from 5-7 October at the Coca-Cola Dome, the line-up for 2012 includes more gaming goodies and more fun as the date draws nearer for a gaming experience like no other on the continent.

2012 marks the tenth year of the annual expo organised and run by NAG magazine, South Africa’s leading gaming, computer and technology magazine. rAge has grown in popularity exponentially over the last few years, a sure sign that visitors are driven by a passion for and an unfaltering commitment to this awesome entertainment medium.

Delivering the latest technological developments, new and pre-released games on console and PC, the sexiest new console on the market, creative-arts learning opportunities, product launches, competitions, giveaways and exclusive presentations by international game developers, rAge is driven by the growing gaming culture in South Africa.“We can’t wait for the show this year as our exhibitors are putting all their energy into making it a feast of technology for both hardcore and casual gamers. The array of exhibitors, products and interactive entertainment will cater to the gaming community‘s every whim.

Visit TVR Computers to see a range of their most popular brands in gaming, networking and security. You’ll be able to view gaming hardware that spans all components as well as gaming accessories and peripherals. Experience new hardware from the likes of Huntkey, Palit, ASRock and Genius, win prizes and chat to the TVR experts. KGaurd Security will also be featured and there will be special appearance of the new GX Gaming range by Genius.

The Learn 3D Computer Animation Training Centre will be back this year, running adrenaline-inducing competitions on their stand with one of the games developed by Learn 3D students. Last year the winner walked away with a Sony PSP so be sure to interact in the 3D adventure where you can take part in free short classes on illustration and 3D animation.

If you’re going to be attending rAge, you’ve got to dress like a gamer, which is why T-shirt Terrorist, South Africa’s leading online satirical t-shirt label, will be displaying some of their favourite designs including comic, super-hero and game spoof t-shirts. Especially for this year’s exhibition, they will also be launching six new gaming and comic-influenced designs. Introducing its very first ladies t-shirts, T-shirt Terrorist is a must for every visitor with a sense of humour.

Talk about dressing up, this year sees one of SA’s biggest Cosplay events happening at rAge. Cosplay is? the term used to describe‘costume play’ where people dress up and act out their favourite pop culture characters, be it from an anime, manga, western cartoon, movie or game. The Cosplay Contest, hosted by LegionInk, will be held during the expo with prizes including cash and merchandise.

If art is more your game, LegionInk will also be hosting local artists in their Artists Alley. Here you’ll see a variety of talents from artists both amateur to professional, as well as Cosplay costume designers and even some student game developers. This year there will also be a photographer displaying and taking pictures in his mini studio in the Artist Alley.
