Marcelo Tavares, CEO and founder of Brasil Game Show will be in Los Angeles, available for interviews about the growth in the region
With favorable numbers and data, Latin America has been receiving increasing attention from the industry. Within this context, Brazil stands out with the highest growth in the group.
According to a research conducted by GFK, one of the world's leading market research companies, last year software sales (electronic games) in Brazil grew by 99% in units compared to the same period in 2011, reflecting the potential of the Brazilian market. We can observe numerous titles translated into Portuguese, which have been driving sales in Brazil. In addition, many companies are opening offices and even factories in Brazil. Recently, the PlayStation division of Sony announced that it is opening a factory in Brazil (until now, PlayStation 3 was produced only in China and Japan). Microsoft has been producing the Xbox 360 in Brazil since 2011.
Another important factor was the reduction of piracy in the Brazilian market, according to the BSA/The Software Alliance, which considers Brazil to be the best among the BRIC (Brazil, Russia, India and China).
Brazil hosts the Largest Game Show of Latin America, the Brasil Game Show (BGS), which is an important Event in the world market. Last year, the Event attracted more than 100,000 visitors, in addition to about 150 companies and journalists from many countries.
Marcelo Tavares, CEO and founder of the Event, highlights the importance of BGS for consumers: "Currently, Brazil has more than 45 million gamers. Last year, during the Brasil Game Show, we presented 30 game previews, we received 25 international producers and conducted 10 tournaments. Together with the participating companies, we were able to bring the latest news from the world market to the Brazilian public”.
Marcelo Tavares will be in Los Angeles between June 4th and 14th, available for meetings and interviews about the Brazilian market by contacting the Press Office.
