~Golden opportunity for Western studios to meet Asian investors and publishers~
London and Busan, 14th November 2017 – Independent mobile game developers are invited to pitch their projects to a panel of expert judges at South Korea’s leading games show, G-STAR, from 16th-19th November.
The hugely successful Big Indie Pitch competition lands in Busan for the first time later this month, building on incredible international success in San Francisco, Helsinki and London, with development studios competing for a share of $5,500 marketing for their game.
The event takes place on November 18, 2017, from 2pm, in Busan, South Korea.
Not only is the competition an amazing chance to get feedback from the media and industry veterans alike, but it’s also an unrivalled opportunity for Western studios to build relationships in Asia and open up new audiences for their projects in the region, which has a thriving mobile gaming scene.
Over the four days of the G-STAR event, delegates will experience the popularity and diversity of the Asian games industry first-hand with a full conference track of seminars; an area dedicated to games investment featuring investors and publishers; and a games industry job fair for those looking to recruit talent or find their next role.
Across its 55,300 square metres of space, G-STAR offers a PC and Online Game Zone, a Mobile Game Zone, an Arcade Game Zone, a Board Game Zone, a Console Game Zone, an SME Pavilion, Korea’s Content Industry Pavilion, an Event Stage, a Playroom for Kids, and more. For business, essential activities include the Game Investment Market and the Game Industry Job Fair. Last year there were over 2,700 booths across the B2B and B2C areas, visited by 217,365 consumers and 1,902 business delegates.
Chris James, CEO at Steel Media said:
“South Korea and the wider Asian market is a massively important territory for the games industry, but a lot of Western developers don’t know where to get started. G-STAR has become a red-letter diary date for us every year now and we’re excited to be part of the event with our own Big Indie Pitch this month, as we help to connect gaming professionals around the world.”
Yongguk Kim, Director of Korea Association of Game Industry and General Manager of the G-STAR Organisation Committee said:
"We are happy to have the Big Indie Pitch as an official programme item for G-STAR. The initiative has become a meaningful platform to raise indie game developers' profiles and attract investors as well. We hope the Big Indie Pitch at G-STAR helps the Asian indies and makes G-STAR even more helpful for the game industry."
