Indie Devs Looking to Turn Columbus into the Next Gaming City

How Kickstarting “Hatch-It!” Can Help Take the First Step

For Immediate Release

DUBLIN, Ohio – Indie video game studio, Multivarious Games, has announced a Kickstarter project to help finish their first game, “Hatch-It!” which started June 7.

“Hatch-It!” puts players back in time, to the age of dinosaurs. In this puzzle game, players take on the role of a makeshift robot to help Dr. T, a scientist who also happens to be a Tyrannosaurus Rex, save all of his dinosaur ancestors from a comet hurdling towards the planet.

The Kickstarter will go on for 45 days in hopes of reaching a $15,000 goal that team can use to polish up and finish the rest of the game to get it on to iOS devices , and hopefully to non target platforms such as PC and Android.

Chris Volpe, CEO of Multivarious Games and also the lead for this project, is hopeful that the Kickstarter will help the game grow into what he has envisioned.

“We have an amazing team at MVG and ‘Hatch-It! is looking to be a great game,” Volpe said. “But I don’t want to make a great game, and I know that my team doesn’t want to either. We want to make an amazing game, and a successful Kickstarter campaign will help us do that.”

Although it is Multivarious’ first product, “Hatch-It!” isn’t new to fans of the studio. During the recent Ohio Game Developers Expo, that took place last December, the team showed off the game in its early stages. People of all ages loved what they saw in the project, and were excited to see more of the game.

Multivarious isn’t just about its projects though, the studio is also very involved in the Columbus game development scene. MVG is extremely active in the Central Ohio Gamedev Group, a group of both professional and aspiring game developers in the Ohio area to talk about all of the ins and outs of the industry.

Alongside the Central Ohio Gamedev Group, Multivarious Games’ CEO, Chris Volpe, and CDO, Wes Adams, are also co-founders of the Ohio Game Developer Association, the group that put on the aforementioned Ohio Game Developer’s Expo. According to the group, the expo, which was anticipated to only have around 50 sales of the “Speaker Series” badges, ended up selling out of the nearly 300 they had available, with more on a wait list to attend. Showing that the work Multivarious is doing, is the same as many Central Ohioans hope to do in the future, which may lead to Columbus becoming the next hotspot for game development.
