Ambiera just announced the release of CopperCube 4.4, a free update of the game editor including new features such as support for rendering plants and grass patches, dynamic loading of textures during runtime, collision detection settings cloning (enabling the creation of advanced apps like level editors), improved plugin creation tools, and more.
CopperCube is a 3D editor for creating interactive 3D games, apps and websites, without needing to program or script anything, although it also offers a scripting API since version 4. It focuses on a user friendly interface which makes it possible create 3D apps without programming, and is able to create WebGL and Flash websites, Mac OS X and Windows apps, as well as Android mobile apps. The just released version 4.4 is a free update for all existing users, with the following new features:
- Support for efficient rendering of huge amount of plants and grass patches
- Improved plugin creation tools
- Dynamic loading of textures during runtime, from the web or disk
- Improved WebGL support for Firefox and Chrome
- The possibility to clone all objects during runtime including collision settings, making it possible to create advanced apps like level editors
There is also now an updated documentation available, and several publishing targets (Flash, Mac OS X and Windows apps) have received several speed and memory footprint optimizations.
Coppercube imports 23 different 3D file formats and is able to create interactive 3D apps with physics, lighting, game AI and more, as Windows, Mac OS X or Android app, and as WebGL or Flash website. No programming knowledge is necessary for creating apps with CopperCube. The editor includes a simple Behavior/Action system with that enables the 'scripting' of complex processes.
CopperCube runs on Mac OS X and Windows, and offers a free trial period of 14 days, after which you can purchase the Light Edition for 149 Euro, or the Professional Edition for 380 Euro.
