Super early bird ends today; register at www.developconference.com
David Braben– founder of Frontier Developments and the Raspberry PI Foundation– is the first confirmed speaker for the new Develop Visionaries track at this summer’s Develop in Brighton conference, which takes place from 10-12 July 2012 at the city’s Hilton Metropole Hotel.
Braben will present Raspberry Pi to the games development community for the very first time. Raspberry Pi is a $25 credit-card sized computer that plugs into a TV and keyboard through HDMI and USB connectors. Designed by the foundation to introduce a whole new generation of kids to computer programming and to give a leg up to bedroom coders, Raspberry Pi was launched, and promptly sold out, at the end of February. Distributors are now waiting for the second batch.
Braben’s presentation -‘Raspberry Pi– the story so far’– will reveal how programming the Pi is working out in practice, what the uber-cheap hardware is really capable of and what coders have done with it so far. Delegates will learn how they can get involved and be given a sneak preview of the next piece of Pi.
“We’re very excited to announce David Braben as our first Develop Visionaries speaker,” commented Andy Lane, managing director of Develop in Brighton organiser Tandem Events.
“From social games and mobile apps to motion-controlled consoles and virtual goods sold in virtual worlds– all the big business trends in games began years ago with a bright idea from the fringe. Through Develop Visionaries, we're dedicated to finding the kind of people who have these sorts of ideas, and sharing their ideas with Develop’s delegates.”
