18 June 2009 Andrew Oliver, Blitz Games Studios’ CTO and co-founder joined a panel of media luminaries to discuss the future of TV and videogames at BAFTA’s 3D-The Next Dimension in TV and Games panel last night.
Andrew was joined by Colin Smith (Technical Analyst for ITV), Brian Lenz (Product Design and Innovation, Sky TV) and Benjamin Berraondo, (PR Manager, UK and Northern Europe) to show demos on what has been achieved and discuss where this technology can go.
Blitz Games Studios’ Project Director Steve Stopps was on hand to demo the world’s first 3D console game– Invincible Tiger: The Legend of Han Tao– a stylistic and cool side-scrolling brawler featuring a host of beautifully animated kung-fu characters. An original title by Blitz Arcade and published by Namco Bandai, Invincible Tiger features the option to play the entire game in full stereoscopic 3D and will be out later this summer on XBLA and PSN.
Andrew Oliver says:“It was an honour to be invited by BAFTA to represent the gaming industry at this event showcasing the future of broadcast and gaming technologies. It was great to see what else has been achieved in this field and discuss what’s really going to push 3D on. The panel discussion gave us the chance to discuss all the different sides and potential applications of 3D. Without doubt, 3D is on its way. It’s not a question of if; it’s a case of when.”
Andrew Oliver and representatives of Blitz Games Studios will be showcasing the studio’s impressive 3D tech and middleware engine at a number of conferences this summer including the Develop Conference in Brighton on 15th June 2009.
